Meaning & Tradition

🔱 Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when lava cools rapidly. Rainbow Obsidian contains microscopic mineral inclusions that create bands of rainbow colour in the light. In feng shui, obsidian is traditionally regarded as one of the strongest protective stones — used to ward off evil and deflect negative energy (sha qi) in the home — and it symbolizes protection and grounding, while the sphere shape is often seen as a symbol of wholeness and harmony.

Who It's For

🌟 Entryway, living room or desk display as a traditional protective feng shui piece
🌟 Busy professionals who want a calm, grounded feel in their space
🌟 Collectors who love natural minerals and optical effects
🌟 Housewarming, new business or birthday gifts

Care Guide

Obsidian is about 5–5.5 on the Mohs scale and fairly brittle — avoid knocks and drops. Spheres can roll, so place it on a stable surface or a stand. Keep away from perfume and cleaning products, and wipe with a soft cloth. To cleanse, use sage or Palo Santo smoke, moonlight, a singing bowl or a Clear Quartz cluster; avoid long soaks in salt water.

A: Rainbow Obsidian looks black in normal light. Shine a torch on it or hold it in sunlight to see the rainbow bands inside; the colours and their position differ on every sphere.

Q: How can I tell natural Obsidian?
A: Natural obsidian is a volcanic glass. Under strong light it shows naturally distributed sheen or patterns, and the surface may have fine natural lines, so every piece is slightly different. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Q: Is it a good gift?
A: Yes. Obsidian is traditionally believed to ward off evil and bring protection, and a sphere symbolizes wholeness, making it a popular housewarming or new-business gift.
